Kribu House is a children's book publishing company dedicated to spreading African joy through children's literature that celebrates our names, our cultures, and our stories.We believe every African child, whether on the continent or in the diaspora, deserves to see themselves reflected in the books they read. Why We Started

In 2018, I was told I should change my name to something "more acceptable" for job applications in Canada. That moment stayed with me the idea that a name, something so fundamental to our identity, could be seen as a barrier rather than a celebration.During the pandemic, I decided to create something different: books that would help children feel proud of their names from the very beginning. No child should ever feel like their name is something to hide or change.Our first book Your Beautiful Name was born from this vision. It's a personalized storybook that celebrates each child's unique name and heritage. But it's just the beginning.

Can you fill out the order form for me?


Unfortunately, no. The beauty of Your Beautiful Name is that it's deeply personal to your child. Only you know the meaning behind their name, who chose it, why it was given, and the cultural significance it holds for your family. We need you to complete the form so we can capture these precious details exactly as you want them told in your child's story.

How long does it take to receive my book preview?


You'll receive your digital preview within 72hrs after placing your order. This gives you a chance to review the book before final production.

Can I request changes to my book?


Yes! One round of revisions is included with every order. After reviewing your preview, you can request changes to the text, illustrations, or personalization details. We'll incorporate your feedback and send an updated version for final approval.

Do you offer digital books, physical books, or both?


We currently offer digital PDF versions with physical copies coming soon.

What are the printing and delivery timelines for physical books?


After final approval, physical books are printed and shipped within 6-8 weeks. Delivery times vary by location:

  • UK: 6–8 weeks
  • Canada: 6–8 weeks

What if I don't know the meaning of my child’s name?


We encourage you to research your child's name meaning before ordering, as this is a key part of the personalized story. You can ask family members who chose the name, or look up the meaning online.

If your child has a Yoruba or Igbo name, you can also check yorubaname.com or igbonames.com. Please note that we are not affiliated with these websites.

What if my city isn't available in the location options?


Because each location in the book is hand-drawn and illustrated, we currently have a limited selection of cities and regions available. If your location isn't listed, please let us know!

We keep track of all location requests, and if we see high demand for a particular city or region, we'll prioritize illustrating it and adding it to our available options. Your request helps us know where our customers are and what matters most to your families.

What if the name meaning I provide is incorrect?


We use exactly what you provide in the order form - we don't fact-check or research name meanings. Please make sure the information you enter (name meaning, origin, story) is accurate, as this will be included in your child's book exactly as written.

Can I include the story of how my child got their name?


Yes! In the optional fields, you can share details about who gave them the name, why it was chosen, and any special circumstances. This makes the book even more personal and meaningful.

What age is this book appropriate for?


Our books are designed for children ages 0-11. For babies and toddlers (0-3), it becomes a cherished keepsake that parents can read aloud and children will grow into. For ages 4-11, it's an engaging story that helps them connect with their name and heritage as they develop their own sense of identity.

Absolutely! You can add a special dedication and we can send the digital version directly to the gift recipient if you'd like.

Because each book is custom-made, we don't offer refunds after final approval. However, we're committed to getting it right that's why we include a preview and revision round.
